Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius!

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius August 7th @ 2:11 PM EST

First let’s look at the Lunar Eclipse.  A Lunar Eclipse happens twice in a year and happens when the Sun, Earth and Moon line up and the Earth casts a shadow on the moon.  This is a partial Lunar eclipse meaning that a portion of the Moon will pass through the earth’s shadow.

The Earth is partially blocking the communication of the Sun’s light to the Moon.  It’s like a mini black-out in some area of your life and this black-out causes a crisis to occur that ignites change in some area of your life.    Full Moon Lunar eclipse more intense than a normal Full Moon and we will be confronted with PURGING that which no longer serves our conscious evolution.

When the full Moon occurs, the Moon and Sun are in opposition to one another.  This configuration tells us there is a need to balance the shadow aspect of Aquarius Moon with the light of the Leo Sun.   Could this be outlandish and rigid ideas (Aquarius) that keep us from following our heart (Leo) or keep us from opening our hearts?   When our mind (Aquarius) rules our emotions (Moon) the path to our heart is blocked.

Aquarius rules groups, the collective, humanity and can be quite detached and rigid in its thinking.  Leo rules individual expression, the heart, and our creative process.  The North Node remains in Leo so we are headed toward expanding and opening our hearts.  The South Node is in Aquarius and we need to let go of this old energy that causes us to detach ourselves from our individual expression.  If we want to evolve we need to balance our heart and our head and ask the question: how can I use my individual expression of love to expand and grow the collective or human mind (humanity)?

There are two wonderful aspects in the sky that aid us in opening our hearts and minds to something bigger:  Jupiter sextile Sun and Jupiter trine Moon.   Humor, good will, and a dose of understanding reduce tension and anxiety and allow for more good-vibe flow.

There will be tension and adjustments added to this opposition by Jupiter square Pluto and Sun quincunx Pluto.

Jupiter square Pluto creates tension between power and success – hunger for power at any cost causes us to abuse our power and manipulate others.  This puts into motion negative karmic circumstances – so, please, use your power responsibly.   The higher vibe of this configuration is integrity and wisdom.

Sun quincunx Pluto could manifest as an outside threat trigging a personal issue.  What do you do when you are threatened or triggered?  Do you run and hide?  Do you manipulate? Do you fight? Do others try to manipulate you?  Will you delude yourself or allow someone else to take a few notches off your self-esteem (Sun quincunx Neptune).  The best course of action here is to let go and take the high road (compassion and a healthy dose of humor).  Exercise, meditate and get in touch with how you feel – before you explode.

Patience will take us far if we get trapped by these tensions.

We can take advantage of Venus in nurturing Cancer for comfort and well-being.  A healthy home-cooked meal, a late night move on Netflix or Amazon Prime, snuggling with your loved ones, having a picnic or family gathering barbecue or a weekend get-away are some examples of Cancer comforts.

New Moon in Leo — Waking up to our authentic selves

The new Moon is conjunct the Sun and Mars at the beginning degrees of Leo.  These three planets square Uranus in Aries challenging us to really be our authentic self.  The Moon is our instinctual nature, our habits, patterns, emotional life, our past and the Sun is our soul, our authentic self.  Our past and future collide in a union of past and future our personality and soul merge in the sign of individualistic and self-expressed Leo.  The Sun rules Leo and Cancer rules the Moon.  When they come together in new Moon fashion, there is a growth spurt; a conscious evolution waiting to take place.  Leo is a fixed sign and prefers to do it their own way and mainly because they can.  The action-oriented energy of Cancer has consolidated its energy when it lands in Leo so it knows how to love, to create, to express (if Leo could get out of its own way and realize that it takes two to tango, not just one.  That’s right.  It’s not all about you, is it?)

The added energy of Mars gives us courage, drive, energy, bravery to be fearless and push what lies Dormant out into the light of day.  Mars can be a warrior pushing the energy forward and can become impatient, irritated, heated when life is moving too slowly.  If we channel the energy of Mars from its higher perspective, the action we take this new Moon, will be the courage to express our authentic selves, and to love ourselves and others more.  The universal transit is begging us to choose love as we venture out into the world.  We may find that doing so is easy and we can surprise ourselves with the lessons we have learned about ourselves over the last month.

Uranus square this stellium in Leo can shake us up a bit – some unexpected surprise can create some friction on our ride through conscious growth and personal evolution.  Uranus is making a grand trine with Mercury in Leo and Saturn in Sagittarius.  Our thoughts and ideas are more innovative and unusual, perhaps surprising insights that can be responsibly manifested in our lives.

Chiron is making a challenging aspect to the new Moon asking us if we want to continue to do what makes us unhappy and in pain or if we are going to take those first bold steps into empowered happiness.  What we focus on becomes a practice and grows stronger with each moment.  We can focus on the pain and let that experience of pain be the life we live or we can focus on what makes us happy and let more light and joy into our hearts.

What bold new expression do you wish to manifest over the next month?  Do you have the courage to step into a new you?  Will you focus on all the pain in your life or all the joy?  Take your life and live it.  It’s the only one you got this go around.

Evolving and Understanding our Moon

The Moon is merely a reflection of the Sun’s light.  We cannot have the Moon without the Sun, the masculine without the feminine, or our past without our future.  The challenge is to unite our past and our future so we are living fully in the present moment.  The Moon, as all other planets, supports our purpose and guides us toward that purpose.

Sometimes, we may not be fully living in our Sun’s light; we are living and expressing ourselves predominately through another planet.  When this happens we are expressing the elements of that planet more than we are any other planet.   We, then, become misaligned or out of balance when we let one planet lead the way over all the others.  It happens to everyone but not everyone admits it.  No one is alone in this, please know this deep fact.  The grass is only greener on the other side because of our perception – not because the grass is actually greener.

The Moon is our past, our habits, our emotional patterns, our unconscious, our need to receive emotional security, our mother, our sense of belonging, our fears, how we instinctually react – and all of these elements hold us back from fulfilling our purpose and standing in the light of our Sun’s rays.

We all have baggage to varying degrees and, therefore, got shit to work on.  No big deal, right?

We want to begin to understand how we unconsciously operate so we start to embody the more helpful and healthful ways of expressing ourselves.  This starts with awareness of our unhelpful or maladaptive patterns and elements that hold us back and cause us unhappiness.  With that awareness, comes responsibility – and we look to our Saturn for that piece.

It’s much easier to blame someone else for our lot in life, isn’t it?  When we do blame, does that change our lot in life?  We still have shit to deal with so we better start dealing, right?

The ways that I have found helpful and would like to impart this knowledge to you is thus:

  1. Meditation – when you commit to a daily practice of meditation you become aware of your thoughts and thought patterns, your physical sensations and emotions
  2. Identify triggers –
    1. situations – what situations trigger ‘negative’ thoughts or emotions?
    2. thoughts – what thoughts are arising? What thought patterns do you notice?
    3. emotions – what are you feeling in response to these situational triggers and thoughts?

When we have an emotional response, we will notice that we start thinking about that or have some sort of judgment about that emotion.  These thoughts increase the intensity of the emotions.  So, our thoughts are a light switch that increases or decreases the amount of intensity of emotion.

3. Nutrition – the Moon is about how we get our nutritional and emotional needs met. So, when we are eating a balanced diet this supports a healthy functioning body and supports our emotions.  Correct nutrition balances our mood, excites the right chemicals and supports our emotional well-being.  When we are not eating well, we feel irritated, ungrounded, heavy, etc.   The key is eating a good portion of vegetables, protein, carbs, fruit and fats.

4. Intuition – we begin to access our intuition in deeper ways through meditation and eating a balanced diet. We all have intuition.   We all have a place in which we ‘hear’ the decisions we need to make in any situation.  We will feel it in our body.  It will not be our mind, yet our mind will interpret that response and, perhaps, talk us out of it. Focus on building intuition.

This is our Moon work.

Our intuition, balanced nutritional health, identifying and restructuring our thoughts and thought patterns, emotional triggers and emotions, and meditation support us as we move forward to fulfill our purpose: the glorious light of our Sun sign.

Full Moon Revelation

FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS – A Revelation OF EVENTS THAT LEAD US TO TRUTH AND WELL-BEING.

Let’s take a look at June 9th full Moon in Sagittarius and what it has in store for you.

The full moon’s light illuminates the night sky and metaphorically highlights a realization, Revelation or a goal that has come to fruition yet not fully complete.  The light of a full moon is like a beacon that guides us toward the finish line.

The full Moon is always opposite the Sun.  This opposition is a call toward balance in the areas these luminaries fall in your chart.  So, if the full Moon is located in the 8th house other people’s resources are highlighted.  This full Moon is also asking you how your personal resources (Sun in the 2nd house) are being used and balanced with other people’s resources.

The full Moon in Sagittarius is about emotional truth.  It’s about adding more focused and dynamic flexibility in how we express our emotional truth.

The full Moon is conjunct Saturn so this is an emotionally sobering aspect – where in our lives did we take risks that failed because we acted first before we found out the information?  We do this all the time when we buy a car, a home, sign-up for a student loan, (vote for a President)– and if we are pressured through the hard sell, we may succumb to signing on the dotted line before we know all the facts.  This is the balancing act we have with Sun in Gemini – exploring knowledge through examination of facts and ask pertinent questions about what we believe or what other people might be telling you.

When I look at the planets configuration, they are providing flexibility and action to support our truth.  We have Jupiter in Libra turning direct so we, hopefully, have been learning to expand our ideas of relationships and valuing differing ideas from our own without too much judgment.  Jupiter is making a harmonious aspect to this full Moon.  Jupiter rules Sagittarius so we could tend to emotionally exaggerate our stories to really drive home the point of our beliefs, our truths to convince others to believe us as well.

Mars has moved into Cancer and I call this the family warrior.  Mars the warrior and Cancer, home, family, personal security (and is ruler of the Moon) is asking us to set personal boundaries that cause us to feel safe, that protects our family.  We can also be rather ‘crabby’ here is as well when our needs are not met.

Venus is in Taurus, it’s natural home.  Sensual, earthy, artistic.  This is a self-care message and station identification break: get a massage or massage your loved one.  Spend time in nature, paint, sing, take a bath in essential oils – love yourself deeply.

So, the truth has been revealed or is continuing to reveal itself.  Are we going to fess up and start from scratch?  Or are we going to tell BS stories to keep our lies intact?

Tell the truth.  Question authority.  Do the research.  Examine the research. Set your boundaries in supportive, loving and gentle ways that respect you and others.

Above all, have fun and love yourself even more than ever.

Full Moon in Libra April 11, 2017

Full Moon in Libra at 2:08 AM EST this morning and 11:08 PM PST.

We are already in our Full Moon mode – so let’s get to it!

The Full Moon is the culmination of events that you started at the New Moon in Aries.   As we reap the fruits of our labor we can celebrate and further that energy into the next week or two.

The Full Moon in Libra is about how we feel (moon) about relationships and love as well as about how we feel about ourselves in those relationships.  Libra is an air sign and full of ideas about how to communicate with other people.  Libra will add grace and harmony to that communication and may not come across so authentic to the brash and authentic Aries.

When we had the New Moon in Aries we were concerned with asserting ourselves and plowing passionately and courageously toward our desires!  We were hoping that others would follow us down that path.   The Sun in Aries continues to support the self-s need to express one’s identity and purpose AND the Moon in Libra is concerned about maintaining harmonious communication and emotional balance with another (spouse, friend, etc).

The energy that can Heal this opposition is to strike a balance between your needs and the other’s needs.  How to do this?

First, let’s look at the other players in the sky.

The Moon (our emotions, memory and past) is conjunct Jupiter (our ability to elevate ourselves toward good fortune and abundance).  Jupiter grows and expands the Moon’s emotions.   With fixed star Spica, we really do have the support to be successful in our endeavors.  Jupiter is retrograde.  Are we on an emotional high and believe this awesome feeling is where it’s at?  Sometimes, it’s best to ride out the emotional wave before we move forward with a decision.  You know, those one night stands can be incredible until you wake up in the morning and go ‘what the heck was I thinking?’  Well, thinking was the last thing on your mind — it was all this feel good emotion.  Wait.  Reflect.

The Sun is conjunct Uranus so something wild and unexpected could cross our path and change the way we feel about someone or something.  It could make us feel excited about where we are headed and yet cause tension with the Moon and Jupiter.   Uranus could awaken us to our purpose or a higher purpose – it could enlighten us to who we are and who will we be or would like to be in the future.

Exciting change is on the horizon!

Jupiter and Uranus are in a T-square with Pluto –  Where we feel the urge to expand and grow will be opposing where we have had a sudden jolt or awakened to who we are – and this will cause tension and frustration with Pluto – death/rebirth total transformation or power to make significant changes in our lives.  Is someone or something getting in the way of you going after your dreams or are you assuming that this other person or situation is holding you back?  This energy is frustrating for certain because the energy in the collective is that we want to move forward and be happy productive people living out our dreams but there is still something we have to look at.

The practical way to heal this is through assertive communication.    Assertive communication blends the assertive and authentic qualities of Aries with the grace, skill and harmony of Libra communication.

We don’t have to give up our values, our goals, or our reason for being on this plane of existence to achieve what we want or to express what we want.

With all this retrograde energy in the air it is time to slow down and become conscious of what we want, how we want to get there, the structures of our belief systems and if they no longer serve a purpose or function well, and how we can communicate this to others (and ourselves).

Retrograde energy is NOT something to fear or an excuse for not taking responsibility for the chaos that happens in our lives.  Do not hide under a table or isolate yourself!  Retrograde energy activates the shadow side of the planet and the sign that planet travels in.  When we go retrograde, we change direction – meaning that instead of unconsciously doing what we do – we slow down and go within.  We reflect.  When that retrograde goes direct, so do we.  We come out with a new awareness to implement in our lives that will improve the quality of our lives.

Mercury is retrograde in Taurus/Aries – Mercury is our mind and how we think and communicate.  During a retrograde we will download or receive messages (Hermes ruler of Mercury) related to Taurus and Aries areas of our life where we are stuck or operate in shadow elements.  If we aren’t paying attention, then the chaos of Mercury retrograde will certainly get our attention so we can get the message!

I think that this Mercury retrograde is asking us to review our values (Taurus) and lift those values to a higher awareness (exalted Aries).  Expect change in unexpected and exciting ways.  You might get exactly what you’ve always wanted.

My astrological prescription:

  1. Learn and practice assertive communication skills (https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/Assertiveness.htm, or DBT Skills Workbook https://positivepsychologyprogram.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/DBT-Skills-Workbook.pdf)
  2. Slow down. Take a walk in nature. Breathe deeply.
  3. Go within to reflect upon what is really important to you
  4. Make decisions that support and value who you are and where you want to go in life

New Moon in Aries – March 27th

We have a new Moon in Aries and this energy embodies the courage to start something new.  There is a tremendous amount of growth potential in this springtime energy.  The emphasis on moving forward and making something happen is related to the Mars energy — as Mars rules Aries.

Aries has dynamic energy that has a momentum towards more freedom and independence and therefore, more focused on the self. Aries rules the head, acts first and asks questions later.

Mars in Taurus is saying ‘slow and steady wins the race’.  Taurus is a fixed earth sign.  Earth is slow and steady and more receptive and reflective.  Aries cardinal fire energy is fast and dynamic.  Mars is calling out to the new Moon to  consolidate this dynamic energy to build something that will last.  If we want it to last we can’t squander the energy.

Mars is in a sextile with Neptune in Pisces.  We are blending the spiritual (Pisces) with the physical (Taurus) – we first listen to our intuition or our connection to our higher self, god, the divine, whatever you want to call it,  before we take action to manifest it on the physical plane.

With Mars in trine to Pluto in Capricorn, another feminine earth sign, we have the support to make our plans manifest on the physical plane.

As the New Moon always conjuncts the Sun, what we cultivate should help us grow in self-confidence and support our life goals.

Mercury is also in Aries.  Mercury in this placement does not give a hoot about what other people think.  Mercury is conjunct Uranus so this adds an unconventional and brilliant flash of insight to our thinking.  Where would you dare to be courageous enough to say what you think without caring what others think of you?

New Moon is also conjunct with Venus retrograde.  At some point, we have to regenerate and give back to ourselves what we put out into the world.  If we run on empty, we have nothing to give.   Venus is what we attract; it’s our values and sense of self-worth.  If our values and sense of self worth is not very healthy we will attract unhealthy people and situations.  We must start to focus on loving ourselves more so that we have healthier interactions with other people.

There is challenging energy between Jupiter and Pluto with Mercury and Uranus.  We want so much to break free of the past shackles that bind us and to do so, we must be brave enough to do something different this time.

Who dares to go after their dreams and make those dreams into manifest reality?  It could be you!

Full Moon in Virgo Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 10:52 AM EST, 7:52 AM PST

The full Moon will be in Virgo and illuminating our health, daily routines and the work environment.  The daily home routines we encounter such as taking the trash out, cleaning the toilets and scrubbing the scum from the tiles in our shower or dusting behind the fridge, feel like a burden.  Even so, there are routine tasks of care in all aspects of our life.  At work, it may be the details in our paperwork, phone calls, filling out our time cards, driving through traffic – and then our self-care like eating healthy and taking frequent breaks or that massage you’ve been putting off.

Okay, not everyone can afford a massage – even so —  you have two hands and can do it yourself.  You don’t want to because it’s too taxing.  So, instead, you turn on the tele or eat your favorite ice cream.  Habits and comfort zone keeps us stagnant and not too fulfilled in the long-term.

Virgo can be prone to critical rumination when it is faced with doing something it doesn’t like or want to do. These critical mental Pattern cause us to make less healthy choices.

When the New Moon was in Pisces two weeks ago we weren’t thinking about spring cleaning or making healthier food choices.   We didn’t mind going out for a drink with our friends, dancing into the wee hours of the morning – or doing yoga, meditation or reading poetry to our loved ones.

Any mundane activity pales in comparison to a yoga session or clubbing with our friends.  Yet, these mundane activities are what keep our homes clean, us free of illness, and our minds less cluttered.

With the moon feeling tense vibes from Saturn we find these mundane routines stifling.  We might even hear the distant voice of our mother telling us to clean our room or make the bed – even worse – wash the dishes.

The moon is challenged by Mercury and the Sun.  Our mind wants to forge ahead and overlook the minute details and our deepest internal needs.   Chiron conjunct this Mercury/Sun configuration – we feel we can’t go out with our friends because we have homework to do.

The excitement of Uranus dashing our plans or taking us away from our plans is another sign that we just can’t find any peace in our lives or get shit done.  Or can you?

What is the resolution?

We have Pluto trine the Moon which provides emotional power to deepen our commitments to ourselves.

If we focus on the perceived drudgery as a spiritual task we can move our New Moon wish toward completion.  We can be spiritual, clean our toilets and have fun while we do it.

Let’s face it, don’t you feel better with a clean house, a clear mind and a cleaner body?
